Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. After getting my hair cut nearby, I went to Ramen Daiichi Asahi. I was thinking of going to Fukunishiki, but I was in a bit of a hurry and decided on ramen.
The First Asahi is one of the most popular restaurants in Shinjuku Gyoen. I have been there several times. It is a soy sauce ramen with a strong smell of pig.

I finished getting my hair cut at 2:00 p.m. and went to Asahi on the same day. It was late afternoon, so there were only three groups of customers. When I entered, two groups had left.
When I arrived at the front of the restaurant, I could smell the distinctive pig smell of Daiichi Asahi. In other words, it smells like pig. It must be hard for those who don’t like it.
Today, I decided to have chashu-men (pork noodle soup) for 1,050 yen. I bought a meal ticket before entering the restaurant, handed it to the waiter, told him the noodles were normal hardness, and took a seat. Inside the restaurant, there is a smell that is common in ramen shops. Inside, there is the smell of pigs.
- Add about 3 cups of fish powder to taste. It adds richness and sweetness and is quite good. Kobushi no Ajitama Tsukemen 1,000 yen
There is a pitcher of water and tissues, but the seats are small. It took 4 minutes and 10 seconds for my order of chashu-men to arrive. The inside of the restaurant smelled of pigs, but the ramen was not so bad.
Ramen with chashu pork, bean sprouts and green onions. The soup is light soy sauce with the aroma of pork. It is a taste that only Asahi can produce. The noodles also have a unique crunchy texture, something you won’t find at other restaurants.
While I was eating, a female customer entered the restaurant. The first thing she did when she opened the door was to ask if she could use a paper apron. I was not asked. There are many restaurants that ask because you are a woman. You should ask men too. Because most of the customers around here are businessmen in white shirts.
Even if they are not wearing suits, many men don’t like to bounce on their clothes. I am one of them. You should ask not only women but also men if they need a paper apron or not.
I was careful not to get splattered and finished my meal quickly because the portions were not that large. If I ever come back to this area again, I will go in there. Ramen Daiichi Asahi in Shinjuku is not too rich, so it is recommended for women as well.
